One of the popular trends in footwear this season are mules. Mules are backless shoes with the toe enclosed. Mules are a popular shoe for both men and women alike. These shoes can range from sporty to elegant or somewhere in between. The heels on these shoes can also vary. Some mule feature high heels while others have lower heels. Other mule styles also have chunky heels. With such a wide variety of options, it is apparent as to why this shoe style if so popular.

Online fashion store Very.co.uk offer a great range of women’s shoes –mules included. Here is some advice on what to think about when buying a pair of these stylish shoes;

When purchasing a pair of mules, make sure that they properly fit your feet. Your heel should not hand over the back of the mule. Additionally, the sides of your feet should not spill over the sides. Having improperly fitting mules is very uncomfortable plus it just looks bad. Make sure there is a slight margin remaining around the perimeter of your heel. This will keep you from looking like your crammed your foot into these shoes. Walking around when trying on your mules will also insure proper fit.

Mules look great with a variety of outfits. Long trousers and skirts look terrific with mules. If you’re wearing a short skirt, you might opt for mules with thinner heels. Of course, having knockout legs is good for this latter style. If your legs are large or perhaps you have thick ankles, go for a mule that has a chunky heel. Wedge heeled mules will also work. Your ankles will appear thinner. Avoid mules with pointy heels. These will in turn make your ankles look even thicker. If you have thin legs or bony ankles you want to veer towards styles of mule with thin heels reminiscent of stilettos. You can also opt for mules with dainty kitten heels.

If you are choosing mules for casual wear, then look for mules that have chunkier heels. When wearing mules with slacks or longer skirts, you might want to wear dress socks or hose with your mules. When wearing shorter hemlines, sheer hosiery looks best or simply going bare with your legs. Remember though that bare legs isn’t a very professional look. If you want to do this for work, avoid this pairing.
