2011 Hair Styles

Posted under Hair Styles by 2likeit on Tuesday 22 March 2011

It is becoming clear as the season progresses that Spring 2011 is the season of hairstyles. Whether you want the big hair, the sleek and short looks or the surprising uses of hair from the catwalks, 2011 hairstyles are bold this year.

2011 hairstyles were making a huge statement on the catwalk with the side bun and side parting featuring prominently in many designers’ looks. The side sweep plait was also a big hit with the designers and audiences at many catwalk shows. There were, of course, many weird and wonderful hairstyles shown off to complement many of the ‘out there’ designers looks but as of yet these do not seem to have hit the real world. Thankfully, for those of us without a makeup and hair team to back us up each morning, the must have 2011 hairstyles are easily recreated in our own homes with a few simple tricks and a pair of trusty straighteners from ghd.

While some of the 2011 hairstyles might be slightly beyond the skill of the majority of women, there are many styles that can easily be recreated with little effort. A favourite of these 2011 hairstyles to come off this season’s catwalk is the straight, sleek hair, carefully straightened with your ghds, flowing in to luxurious curls at the bottom to frame your face. This look is perfect for even the most inexperienced in hairstyling and is the perfect way to show off long hair. The side bun, which is featuring heavily in many collections, is likewise simple to style and is, in many ways, even easier than the traditional ballerina bun situated at the back of the head as with this 2011 hairstyle, you can actually see what you are doing with the hair rather than trying to fiddle around at the back of your head only to find it all falling apart after 5 minutes. Visit the step-by-step guide at http://hairstyles.ghdhair.com for more tips and tricks.

2011 hairstyles are definitely aimed at those of us who have difficulty with recreating the amazing hairstyles that we see out and about and with our reliable ghds, there is now nothing to stop us having amazingly styled hair!

Men: Jeans vs. Trousers

Posted under Fashion Hits by 2likeit on Monday 28 February 2011

Men seem to have it easy when it comes to what to wear on their bottom half. They have the simple option of jeans or trousers. However, this deceivingly simple decision is clouded by the countless styles of each trouser available on the market today. At Very.co.uk they have such a huge range of mens jeans and it is hard to know where to start, or even if they are for you.

The debate between jeans vs. trousers is, basically, casual vs. smart. Jeans are traditionally seen as informal wear and trousers are considered to be the other end of the spectrum. But with a more diverse range of jeans and trousers today, men are able to, perhaps, break out of these time-honored boundaries.

The best thing to do is to work out the pros and cons for the two different bottom half clothing. You will soon work out which is best for you and you can then choose from the many styles of, for example, G Star jeans.

Mens jeans are the practical trousers. The hardwearing denim is a unique fabric that is durable, warm and comfortable once worn in. With the variation in jean shapes and styles you can also look extremely fashionable in jeans, in a relaxed way. However, if you do not look after your jeans, they can begin to look scruffy. The bottom of the legs can easily get ripped, scuffed and discoloured. The rest of the legs can also begin to fade if you wash them too often, and wearing around the knees can bring your whole look down by ten notches!

Trousers on the other hand are the sophisticated brother that rarely gets tatty. They are considered to by the ideal work attire due to their stylish and presentable appearance, and will make any scruff look smart at the drop of a hat. However, they are not as durable as jeans because the fabric used is less hard-wearing. They tend to be a cotton mix that allows for nice lines and soft fabrics, but it is easier to rip and wear out. This fabric also tends to let cold air through and does not create that warm barrier given to mens jeans through denim.

There is no saying which bottom half clothing is best. They both serve completely different jobs. Having a mix of both in your wardrobe is probably best; you can then pick and choose. But at all times remember to maintain them well, you do not want your new G Star jeans to be in the rag bag after just a couple of months! Go online and visit Very for more mens jeans and trousers, suitable for any occasion.

Dramatic Jewellery

Posted under Gifts,Jewellery,Style by 2likeit on Thursday 21 October 2010

Jewellery is such a fabulous and valuable accessory; it can be subtle and delicate adding just a touch of class to an outfit. Or it can be bold and dramatic completely transforming a look or, of course, completing a look. If you have the courage, you can create a really great style and a unique style by being brave with your choice of jewellery.
This season statement jewellery is back. Go for a statement piece of jewellery that either compliments your outfit or matches it perfectly. Go for bling for a really dramatic look.

Nicole Richie, who has started up her own Jewellery line and has always been a really big fan of statement jewellery, is often seen wearing unique pieces of jewellery like an oversized cocktail ring or a headpiece. The headpiece is a great idea if you really want to break away from standard trends as so few people wear them. You will really stand out from the crowd. Also, with oversized jewellery it is best to go for one big piece of jewellery and make a statement with that one piece. Think big but think less is more at the same time.

Obviously buying jewellery can be expensive depending on where you go to get it. Some online sites like Compton & Woodhouse have a great system where you can pay for the item of jewellery you wish to buy in instalments. This means that your wallet doesn’t take one big hit; you can spread the cost across a number of months.
